D. Geller & Son, a jeweler with outlets in Smyra and Kennesaw, says you can get a "free hunting rifle" with a diamond purchase, according to media reports.

WSB-TV has reported that Geller’s promotion offers a free hunting rifle, if you buy a diamond worth $2,499 or more. Those who qualify will receive a voucher for Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna.

Owner Mike Geller told WSB that the offer is generating a lot of interest.

“It’s unbelieveable! There’s websites that got a million hits about it,” Geller said.

Even though an anti-Obama message has been taken down from a local bar sign, people still showed up this weekend to protest.

It was a peaceful event Saturday at Mulligan’s Food and Spirits with about 20 protesters—organized by Marietta-based New Order National Human Rights Organization Inc.—showing up, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

A sign, which read “I Heard The White House Smelled Like Collard Greens And Fried Chicken,” was just the latest controversial statement at the the bar on Park Street Southeast in Marietta.

In 2008, the bar received national attention when it sold T-shirts reading “Obama ’08” depicting the cartoon chimp Curious George peeling a banana.

 

Sneiderman Will Be Able to Attend Synagogue - Dunwoody Patch

Andrea Sneiderman will be allowed to leave her parent's house in Fulton County to attend a nearby synagogue for three Jewish holidays.

Judge Gregory Adams ruled Thursday to loosen the bond restrictions. Sniederman was released on bond in late August with $500,000 and the stipulation that she stay under house arrest at her parents home until trial.

Sneiderman is accused of being involved with the killing of her husband, who was shot and killed at a Dunwoody daycare in 2010. .

 

GCPD Seeking Witnesses to Homicide Near Duluth - Norcross Patch

The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened at about 5 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21) near the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Merchants Way in unincorporated Duluth.

Police say Monique Marlowe, believed to be about 25 years old, was found behind the Hertz Rent-a-Car adjacent to the Gwinnett County Transit pick-up/drop-off hub.

Marlowe was transported to Gwinnett County Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Marlowe's address was not released, but the next of kin has been notified, according to police.

According to a media release distributed just after 11 p.m. Friday, the victim was a Hertz employee who was shot while attending to a vehicle behind the building. She was found by other employees "some time" later.

According to the release, she described the shooter as a black male wearing a blue shirt before being taken to the hospital. .
