Afternoon Commute Will be a Soggy Mess Today

Johns Creek could be hit by severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and this evening, according to the National Weather Service. With a 60 percent chance of precipitation at 5 p.m., and rising to 100 percent through the evening, expect to get wet if you go outside.

With a south wind 10 to 15 mph, and gusts as high as 20 mph today, the rain won't be coming straight down at times. Even this evening the gusts could reach 15 mph.

The National Weather Service said, "some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall" tonight. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.

All of this is going to make the late afternoon-early evening commute a soggy mess.

It will still be warm, with a high near 72.

Overnight, showers and possibly a thunderstorm are in the forecast between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., then showers and thunderstorms are likely after 3 a.m. The low will be around 54.

After a chance of showers before 8 a.m. Friday – just 30 percent – the day should turn out nice and sunny, if a bit windy. The high will be near 72 degrees, with west winds 10-15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph. The low Friday will be a bit cooler, dropping to around 42 degrees. The wind will slow down to 5-15 mph, with gusts reaching 20 mph.

It will be sunny, slightly wind and warm with a high of 73 on Saturday, and up to 76 on Sunday.
