Wine Shop Brings Variety to Johns Creek

Wine & Crystal boutique debuts with mix of affordable and upscale wine and champagne.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that the new boutique on Medlock Bridge Road offers only expensive labels.

The Johns Creek shop, appropriately located in the plaza with , and , prides itself on offering up something for everyone.

The shop's more than 850 labels of wine and and 160 varieties of champagne cost anywhere from $5 to $500.

"We understand this is an affluent market, but at the same time you can get really good wine for under $30," said owner Jim Daunais. "For the most part, 70 to 75 percent of what you see in here can't be found anywhere else in Johns Creek. We've worked with distributers and told them we want to bring something new to the area. But as Johns Creek tells us what they want to drink, we'll adapt."

The shop also prides itself on customer service and knowledgeable employees.

"Between the two of us [store managers], we've tasted everything in the store," said wine consultant David Metz, who manages the shop along with Skip Williams.

"This is a place where you can come in and talk about wine," Daunais said. "I think that's important."

Metz added that he thinks the store is in a great location. "When we were selecting a location, this shopping center seemed like a rock star location. We've got two of the best restaurants in Atlanta that bookend the strip here, and then the real excitement for us was being next to Kathleen's Catch. We've found that it's a great pairing – there's a lot of synergy."

The store also sells and rents stemware, and will hold . The event will include free wine tastings as well as cheese, crackers and fruit to pair with selections.
