‘Shop For A Cause’ at Macy’s on Saturday

The one-day shopping event will benefit the March of Dimes.

Have some overdue back-to-school shopping to do? Need something for the house or to add to your wardrobe?

Stop by Macy’s this Saturday, Aug. 25, and you can enjoy special savings while lending a hand to the March of Dimes. The national nonprofit that seeks to end birth defects is the recipient of this year’s “Shop For A Cause” event at Macy’s.

During the one-day promotion, consumers can purchase a “Shop For A Cause” savings pass that will give them 25 percent off regular, sales and clearance items. Savings of 10 percent are also available on such items as watches, furniture, mattresses and area rugs. Consumers who buy the $5 pass will also be entered into a drawing for a $500 gift card, according to a Macy’s media release.

“Giving back is a cornerstone of Macy’s culture, and through our annual ‘Shop For A Cause’ program, our customers have helped Macy’s give more than $42 million for local and national charities,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer, in the release. “Our customers’ ongoing support is an inspiration and we are proud to offer them an effective yet simple way to make a positive difference in their communities while enjoying great savings at Macy’s.”

Shop For A Cause passes can be purchased at local Macy’s stores and online at Macys.com. The March of Dimes will receive 100 percent of every ticket sold, the release said. Passes are available online only on Aug. 25, but can be purchased in advance at stores.
