Recycle Your Old Electronics at Kroger for Good Cause

Get rid of old electronics safely while benefitting those with disabilities.

Kroger is teaming up with Recycletronics – an electronics recycling program created by Nobis Works – to host its first electronics recycling drive now through April 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the on State Bridge Road in Johns Creek. Donations made during the drive are tax deductable and will help Nobis Works create jobs for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

“Through each donation, Kroger customers are preventing electronics from filling landfills while helping Nobis Works provide jobs that directly benefit our community,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are incredibly proud to offer this service to our customers and hope the drive will inspire other retailers, businesses, schools and organizations that could serve as potential collection centers.”

Donations will be sorted and securely disassembled into raw materials or cleaned for reuse with donors’ approval. During the drive, Recycletronics representatives will accept most items with an electrical cord and recycle them for free.

“Computer hard drives are shredded using the most secure U.S. Department of Defense-approved technology,” says Mike Daniels, chief operating officer for Recycletronics. “Having achieved the Environmental Protection Agency’s highest safety and security certifications, Recycletronics pledges the data left behind in donated items is not recycled or used in any refurbished item at Nobis Works’ Recycletronics program.”

Washers, dryers, freezers, humidifiers and non-electronic equipment, however, will not be accepted as recyclable goods at this time. For more information, visit www.NobisWorks.org.
