The north Fulton city topped a consumer advocacy group's survey; several nearby cities also rated high.

A consumer advocacy site has given high marks to Johns Creek and three other North Fulton cities in a survey of the best places in Georgia for job seekers

NerdWallet has rated Johns Creek (also the 10th largest city in Geoorgia) the top city in the state for jobs, followed by Alpharetta, No. 2, Dunwoody, No. 3 and Roswell No. 5.

Sandy Springs (8th) and Duluth (10th) are included in the Top 10 in the NerdWallet survey, which was compiled factoring in unemployment rates, median income, monthly homeowner costs, and population growth.

In addition to having major corporate employers and being a technology hub in the metro Atlanta area, the North Fulton cities were cited for economic development initiatives, such as the Johns Creek Advantage program.

The consumer advocacy group's survey pointed to the city's comprehensive annual financial report which listed State Farm, Alcon and Macy's Systems & Technology among the city's top employers.

NerdWallet noted Johns Creek saw a population growth of 21.9 percent between 2009 and 2011 alone, and households in the city earned a median income of $110,648.

NerdWallet is a personal finance and credit card comparison site launched in 2010. It has been rated as one of the top "money" websites by CNNMoney.
