Royal Caribbean to Set Sail from New Orleans

Royal Caribbean tells the Food Snob about all the new and exciting changes. Read about the Voyager of the Seas new port, New Orleans.

Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas will begin sailing from New Orleans beginning November 2011-April 2012. This is fabulous news for anyone from the Atlanta area. We can make the drive quite easily from Atlanta.

In the past, the closest driveable ports were limited to Tampa, Port Canaveral or Jacksonville, which are somewhat limited for cruising, with only a few itineraries offered by Carnival, Disney and Royal Caribbean on smaller ships. Of course, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and San Juan are major ports, but not really a drive from here.

With New Orleans being added to the cities, it gives the "land-locked" Atlantans another choice for driving to a port. In some cases the airfare to get to a ship will be too much of an expense for passengers. The option to drive makes any cruise that much more appealing.

Travel tip: When packing for your vacation, I suggest packing your companions clothes and your clothes equally, separating the articles into two pieces of luggage. This way if one bag gets lost, you both still have clothes to wear until your bags are returned.  You can read more travel suggestions and advice in my book, "Toss Your Panties and Other Great Travel Tips," available on Amazon.com.
