Fresh Ketch

We were lured in to the fresh food at the Big Ketch.

This past weekend, along with my husband, sister and brother-in-law, I was back doing what I do best, eating!

The Big Ketch on Roswell Road in Buckhead was our spot for the evening, filled with about 150 others. This local eatery was on the hook. Opened in November 2011 by the same guys who own Milton's Cuisine in Crabapple, the atomosphere was fun and friendly.

While waiting to be seated we entered the bar, which was wall-to-wall people. We moved quickly to the outdoor patio, which has live music, high-top tables and a large open window from the bar to see out. Thinking we had an hour to wait we ordered some yummy cocktails and enjoyed the scenery. The wait was surprisingly shorter than we expected and we were lured to a table inside.

The menu is full of fresh fish, flown in daily from the Gulf and the Pacific Nothwest.

Comfortably seated, menus in hand, we ordered appetizers of crab and shrimp dip served with crispy pita chips, hushpuppies and sweet and spicy shrimp.

No question in my mind, I ordered the hot lobster roll, as did my brother-in-law. Each entree comes with one or two sides. My choice was a small side salad. The best part of that salad was the dressing, a creamy soy vinaigrette. My husband ordered the grouper sandwich with hushpuppies and a caesar salad. My sister ordered the cold lobster with corn on the cob. Everyone enjoyed.

The decorations are simple with light fixtures made of what looked like round tin buckets, adorable. There is ample seating inside with wooden tables and large comfortable booths for six. The patio has aluminum tables and a white picket fence to surround the patrons. Very cute.

The Big Ketch is a pleasant basin for fresh fish prepared in simple fashion.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun atmosphere, good fresh food and lobster rolls of the finest order.
