JCAC Pieces on Display at the Booth Museum

Each year the partners with an established Atlanta institution during summer camp for cross-promotion and an opportunity for campers to make relevant and dramatic pieces of artwork for display at that institution. 

This year the art center partnered with the in Cartersville to tie in with the 2012 summer camp theme “Amazing America,” with sub-themes of Southwestern Art (Cowboys & Indians), the American Craft Movement (Folk Art), and American Pop & Modern Art.

Various groups of campers created collaborative art pieces to represent the different themes. Pieces include a mosaic American flag made by the Mosaic Campers; a native American artist “Dan Namingha” inspired landscape made by the Teen Visual Arts Campers; an “Eckman” paper sculpture inspired “junk” bass relief cowboy boot; and a large Statue of Liberty painted by Art Campers (ages 6-12) in the style of Peter Max and Helen Frankenthaller.

These pieces will go on display at the Booth Museum to coincide with their annual “Booth Birthday” event, Saturday, Aug. 25, which includes a variety of activities throughout the Booth Museum. For more information, visit www.BoothMuseum.org.
