Performing Arts North's Children's Theatre presets A Thousand Cranes, the story of a Japanese girl who dies from radiation poisoning leukemia 10 years after the bombing of Hiroshima. She tries to fold 1,000 cranes so that she can have her wish to live, but she dies before she can finish. Her schoolmates finish for her and begin a world movement for peace in her honor.
The production will be in a stylized Noh form - an ancient Japanese style of theater which uses masks and very little in the way of sets and props. Performers range in age from 6 -13 with a student director and choreographer.
