Curtain Climbers Youth Theater to Present ‘Alice in Wonderland’ at Autrey Mill Nature Center

The show is back by popular demand for the 2010-2011 season.

The Curtain Climbers Youth Theater, the children's theater division of Performing Arts North (PAN), returns to Autrey Mill Nature Preserve for an encore presentation of "Alice in Wonderland" and invites you to “Come enjoy Alice and her nonsensical adventures as she meets Lewis Carroll's characters.”

According to Margarita Moldovan, executive director of PAN, the Curtain Climbers brought “Alice in Wonderland” back this year because it was so popular last year, selling out the Summerour House that held only about 40 people per performance. This year, the show will take place in the Pole Barn, which accommodates an audience of about 100.

Featuring actors in the fifth grade through high school age group, Moldovan says that the show is geared toward young children with an interactive performance and “tea party” at the Mad Hatter’s table—center stage; however, she expects that parents will bring the whole family for the experience. She says that the actors come from five different counties across Metro Atlanta, so she predicts that people from outside of North Fulton and Johns Creek will attend the play.

Since Autrey Mill is hosting the performance, attendees are invited to take a self-guided hike through the nature trails before the show and/or to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy at one of the many outdoor tables or gazebos. There will also be drinks and snacks on sale at the event.

Although PAN has been pleased with Autrey Mill hosting its performances, Moldovan says that the group was excited to open their new home location, The Dancing Goat Theatre, located at 10700 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, this past Saturday. Held on William Shakespeare’s birthday, the grand opening included a special party featuring scenes from PAN's past and future shows—including “Alice in Wonderland”—and some special presentations from the group’s talented high school actors who are soon going off to college.
