Whether You Prefer Sports or Arts, There's Plenty To Do In Johns Creek This Weekend

Enjoy this weekend by catching a play, soaking in some art, enjoying the symphony, participating in a run or watching some lacrosse.

Why: Preview "Art in Bloom." Come experience art and flowers in a fresh way when some of the Southeast's most talented floral designers interpret timeless art. Presented by the . The gala includes a book signing by legendary Vince Dooley as well as dinner and festivities.

Where/When: Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, 9770 Autrey Mill Road, Friday, April 29; Saturday, April 30; Friday, May 6; and Saturday, May 7, at 6 and 8 p.m.

Why: The Curtain Climbers Youth Theater, the children's theater division of Performing Arts North (PAN), returns to Autrey Mill Nature Preserve for an encore presentation of "Alice in Wonderland" and invites you to “Come enjoy Alice and her nonsensical adventures as she meets Lewis Carroll's characters.”

Price: $8 children, $12 adults

Where/When: , , and Lambert high schools. Friday, April 29, to Sunday, May 1.

Why: The Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau is the title sponsor for the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Championships. Northview High School will host all three days of action, starting Friday night beginning at 5:30. Chattahoochee, Alpharetta and Lambert High Schools will also host games on Friday evening also starting at 5:30 pm. Semifinal action will begin at Northview on Saturday at noon, and championship games in two divisions will be at Northview on Sunday, May 1, at noon and 3 p.m. For tournament details, visit www.selctournament.com.

Water for the World Run

Where/When: 11350 Johns Creek Parkway (State Farm Insurance Building - Technology Park), Saturday, April 30, 7:30 a.m.

Why: Proceeds from entry fees and donations benefit local and global communities with the majority of proceeds going to support establishment of clean water systems in developing countries where contaminated water is the No. 1 cause of death. This event is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.

Price: $17-$30

Where/When: , 5575 State Bridge Road, Saturday April 30, 8 p.m.

Why: Join the symphony as it performs a collection of dance music from four historical periods. Bourrée, minuet, polonaise, polka, waltz, mazurka, foxtrot, tango and swing will be played as professional dancers perform.
