Residents Have Chance to Honor Military Family and Friends

Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk pavers now available.

You can honor your military family members and friends for their service and sacrifice with engraved red-brick pavers for the Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk at Newtown Park in Johns Creek.

The pavers will be installed as part of a contemplative walking path accentuated with black granite memorials for each major conflict dating from World War I. The entrance plaza will feature a brick sitting wall and flags for each branch of service. A gazebo will rest in the midst of the memorial. Groundbreaking for the project is tentatively set for the Fourth of the July with the opening of the Veterans Memorial Walk anticipated for Veterans Day 2014.

The memorial pavers measure 4 inches by 8 inches for $50 and 8 inches by 8 inches for $100. The larger paver can accommodate a military branch logo. Proceeds go toward defraying the cost of the project. No tax dollars will be used for the Veterans Memorial Walk. The Johns Creek Veterans Association has a goal of $300,000 for the project.
