Residents Enjoy Johns Creek Summer Kick-Off Picnic

The picnic for special needs residents in Johns Creek was held earlier this month at Newtown Park.

Dozens of Johns Creek special needs residents and their families enjoyed the Summer Kick-Off Picnic at Newtown Park earlier this month.

The picnic, part of the city’s efforts to expand adaptive recreation offerings, included food, music, entertainment, games and visits from the Johns Creek police and fire departments.

“It is really wonderful to be able to partner with the Johns Creek Civitan Club as we continue to develop more opportunities for all of our families to enjoy our parks,” said Mayor Mike Bodker. “I hope that this encourages more residents to check out our growing adaptive programs.”

The festivities were sponsored by the city of Johns Creek, the Johns Creek Civitan Club and the Johns Creek, Northview and Chattahoochee high school Junior Civitan clubs.

“This was a great event for these families to have a fun day out at the park,” said Michelle Hanchey, president of the Johns Creek Civitan Club. “From the food and games to the entertainment and music, the families had a great time.”
