North Fulton Attorneys Put Charity First

Members of the local Bar Association volunteer at North Fulton Community Charities.

North Fulton atorneys took a day off from depositions, filing briefs and motions, closings and courtrooms to instead spend a day helping sort, organize and clean at North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) on Saturday, March 9.

Members of the North Fulton Bar Association participated in a day of service at NFCC. The group spent several hours sorting toys and clothes, organizing shelves, and cleaning the thrift shop and back room areas, according to Todd Ashley, an assistant district attorney and the secretary of the Bar Association.  The group also assisted with loading and unloading furniture.  They donated approximately 75 cans of food while they were there, too.

"Giving back to the community is very important to the North Fulton Bar Association," said President Mike Bishop of Smiley, Bishop & Porter LLP.  "We were honored to contribute to the great work done by the North Fulton Community Charities."

"Being able to help others is a rewarding experience and we encourage everyone to find a way to give back," said President-Elect Tom Salata.

The North Fulton Bar Association meets on the fourth Thursday of each month from September to April at the Diner at NorthPoint on Mansell Road.  The social begins at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m.  The featured speaker on March 28 is Georgia Supreme Court Justice Keith Blackwell. Membership is open to those admitted to the State Bar of Georgia.
