Cancer Patients Have Chance for Free Cleaning Service

Swallowtail Green Cleaning joins with non-profit to clean homes for women with cancer.

A Johns Creek cleaning service has partnered with an international non-profit to offer free maid services for those afflicted with cancer.

Cancer affects millions each year. Women undergoing treatment for cancer have no energy to clean their own homes. Their immune systems are compromised and they are often sensitive to scents. Scents of toxic chemicals like bleach and other scents of harsh cleaning products can make a negative difference in their day to day health issues.

Johns Creek-based Swallowtail Green Cleaning realized this and partnered with Cleaning for a Reason to give their time, energy and resources to clean the homes of women with cancer completely for free.

Patients who live in Johns Creek, Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Duluth, Suwanee and Cumming could have access to Swallowtail Cleaning as a provider.

One of the most overlooked factors in a cancer patient’s recovery is their own environment and the emotional toll it takes on a person who cannot take care things the way they used to.

“We want to help women with cancer devote all their energy to their treatment and we will take care of the cleaning task”, says Jackie Allen of Swallowtail Cleaning. “To be part of this foundation we want to educate others to make their respective medical checkups to detect any type of cancer in time and thus have better treatment and more possibilities for a better outcome.”

Swallowtail Green Cleaning will be donating to take care of two patients each month through the Cleaning for a Reason foundation, a Lewisville, Texas non-profit. Patients must apply through the Cleaning for a Reason website and qualify for the free service by currently being in treatment.

Cleaning for a Reason partners with cleaning/maid services in the United States and Canada to provide free house cleaning for women undergoing treatment for cancer. Over the course of the past two years, Cleaning for a Reason has skyrocketed from 800 partners to over 1,000 partnered maid services.

Cleaning for a Reason donated $1.3 million worth of cleanings to more than 4,600 women over the past twelve months. Cleaning companies that have joined Cleaning for a Reason have donated over $2.9 million in free services to more than 10,000 women with cancer since the organization started in 2006. Cleaning for a Reason will increase that milestone by 50 percent in 2012.  To learn more about Cleaning for a Reason visit www.cleaningforareason.org.
