Johns Creek To Host U.S. Amateur Championship

The Atlanta Athletic Club will be the site for the 114th edition of the U.S. Amateur Championship next month.

The city of Johns Creek will be the Host City for the 114th edition of the U.S. Amateur Championship when it comes to the historic Atlanta Athletic Club, August 11-17.

"We welcome the U.S. Amateur to our city and are honored to partner with the Atlanta Athletic Club as they host this prestigious golf championship," said Mayor Mike Bodker. "We wish all participants and their families the best of luck."

Conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), the U.S. Amateur Championship is the oldest golf championship in the nation. It was first held in 1894 in Newport, Rhode Island.

"The City of Johns Creek has been a superlative partner as we prepare for the 2014 U.S. Amateur," said championship director Robbie Zalzneck of the USGA. "We are grateful for their overwhelming support as the championship approaches and look forward to an outstanding championship in August."

A total of 312 amateur golfers from around the world will compete for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship. 

The first round of match play will air live on Golf Channel on Aug. 13. The second, third and quarterfinal rounds will be broadcast tape-delayed on Aug. 14-15 on Golf Channel. 

The semifinal matches on August 16 will air tape delay on NBC and the championship final on August 17 will air live on NBC.
