Johns Creek Derby Day; Pitch, Hit and Run on Tap This Weekend

Where/When: , 4100 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, 30022, Saturday, May 7, 4:30-8:30 p.m.

Why: This unique event is creatively structured around The Kentucky Derby, the annual thoroughbred horse race held at Churchill Downs. The 137th Derby will be the focal point of the day with “horse voting” booths, an extensive silent auction, authentic Derby-style food and beverages, entertainment and large-screen televisions to view “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” Net proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Where/When: , 10900 Buice Road, Johns Creek, 30022, Saturday, May 7. Sign up at 9:30 a.m.

Why: The Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run event is a great opportunity for youth to be a part of an official baseball/softball skills local competition. There are separate boys baseball and girls softball divisions competing in three important aspects of  baseball/softball: pitching, hitting and running. Each division is split into four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.

Where/When: Publix, 4305 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, 30022, Saturday May 7, 10 a.m.

Why: A celebration of Mom is the perfect time to enjoy the elegance of an intimate tea party. The chefs will speak of the finer areas of enjoying tea and the delightful accompaniments while you indulge in the company of the one who will always love you.

Price: $60 per pair

Where/When: 575 Riverside Road, Roswell, 30075, Saturday, May 7, 7-9 pm.

Why: An outdoor summer concert series at Riverside Park. Food is available for purchase at the concession stand or you may bring your own.  Blankets and chairs are welcome and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.  In case of inclement weather, the concert will be canceled. Saturday’s band is ZydeFunk

Where/When: , 238 Canton St., Alpharetta, 30009, Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why: The annual Craft Sale at the Alpharetta Library will be held in conjunction with the Monthly Book Sale (rain or shine). An artist will provide demonstrations of her craft with her pottery wheel.
