Johns Creek Civitan Club Names Special Needs Teachers of the Year

Three local teachers were honored by the club on May 7.

Three local special needs educators were honored by the Johns Creek Civitan Club during an awards breakfast this past week.

Emily Boudreaux of Abbotts Hill Elementary School; Stephanie Hosley of River Trail Middle School; and Patty Nall of Johns Creek High School were named the Johns Creek Special Needs Teachers of the Year on Tuesday, May 7 at The Standard Club in Johns Creek.

"The Johns Creek Civitan Club is proud to honor these teachers," said Doug Smith, president of the Johns Creek Civitan Club. "The Johns Creek Special Needs Teacher of the Year award is our effort to highlight the important work these individuals do for the students."

Each teacher was nominated by their school principal. The Civitan Club selected an elementary school teacher, a middle school teacher and a high school teacher from the nominees. Β 

According to the club, the nominees included: Emily Bourdreaux, Abbotts Hill Elementary; Shannon McMahon, Barnwell Elementary; Kim Richards, Dolvin Elementary; Kate Pornsopone, Findley Oaks Elementary; Lauren Carter, Medlock Bridge Elementary; Lindsey Edwards, State Bridge Crossing Elementary; Diane Merdinger, Autrey Mill Middle; Stephanie Hosley, River Trail Middle; Catherine Wise, Centennial High; Catherine Clements-Keith, Chattahoochee High; Patty Nall, Johns Creek High; Renae Thompson, Northview High. Nominees were also honored at the breakfast, which was sponsored by Riley McLendon, LLC, Whole Foods and 8ight.
