Golf Tourneys, Wine Tasting, Yard Sale on Tap This Week

There are many ways to take a break, get some excercise and give back to the community this upcoming week.

Where/When: , 1 Saint Ives Country Club Drive, Johns Creek 30097, Monday, March 28, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Corporal Greg Whitaker, a member of the Johns Creek Police Department, passed away suddenly March 2 following a short illness. His buddies at the JCPD and the JCFD, with generous help from the St. Ives Country Club, have organized a golf tournament "Guns and Hoses" to assist his family with unforeseen medical and living costs. The reception following this event will include: live entertainment, silent auction, raffle, dinner and cash bar.

Why Go: Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce signature fundraiser at the beautiful Jack Nicklaus-designed Laurel Springs Golf Club.

Why Go: Surplus of great items to check out and purchase. Proceeds benefit youth mission trips.

Price: Free to attend

Where/When: , 131 S. Main St., Alpharetta, 30009, Saturday, March 26, 4:30-6:30 pm

Why Go: It's a wine tasting to benefit Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and the pets they rescue and take care of while helping to find their forever homes. Come out and sample a variety of red and white wines, enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and live entertainment, and Vino 100 will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to the Angels.

Where/When: Big Creek Park, 1600 Old Alabama Road, Roswell 30076

Why Go: Race the clock with four chances and four ways in a day to win.  XC, Downhill, Slalom, uphill “El Scorcho” climb. Do one or do them all. Donations benefit RAMBO trail efforts. Win them all and you could become RAMBO’s 2011 Big Creek King or Queen.

Price: Entry donation for non-members is $40, also includes a $30 IMBA/SORBA membership and new member goodies and incentives.

Why Go: Networking opportunity held on the fourth Friday of each month. Luncheons are held at the Roswell Holiday Inn. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m. and lunch is served at 11:30. To reserve your seat, contact Jean Rogers, VP of Membership, at jeanrogers1@gmail.com.
