Why: The Johns Creek Police Department will host its third annual golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics Georgia. The tournament is part of the JCPD's annual participation in the non-profit's Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises money each year to serve more than 23,000 intellectually disabled children and adults across the state.

The tournament is an 18-hole, 4-man scramble format. Registration includes green fee and cart, range balls, box lunch, buffet dinner, awards and prizes.

Price: $125 for single entry in tournament

When: Three-day class starts Monday, April 11. Two time periods offered 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Price: $150 for all three days

Where/When: , 11925 Wills Road, Alpharetta, 30009 (Alpharetta Community Garden), Saturday, April 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Why: You are invited to a Plant Swap and a "Basics of Gardening" class at the Alpharetta Community Garden. The Plant Swap runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Bring plants from home to trade for other plants. The "Basics of Gardening" class, with Gail Zorn of Gwinnett Technical College, will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Bring a chair and enjoy the garden.
