Civitans to Present 'Dare to Soar' Award to History Bee Winner

Foster Michaelis will receive plaque from Johns Creek Civitan Club next week.

First, 11-year-old Foster Michaelis worked countless hours in therapy to succeed after being diagnosed with Asperger syndrome.

Then, he won the Nation History Bee despite his challenges.

Now, the Johns Creek Civitan Club is preparing to present its "Dare to Soar" award to the Medlock Bridge Elementary fifth-grader.

At the club's meeting on Tuesday, June 18, at the Standard Club, Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker will present the honor to Foster. “Achievement lies in the honest endeavor to do your best under all circumstances,” reads the plaque the mayor will give to Foster.

The Johns Creek Civitan Club, which is only a year old, is made up of some 50 volunteers who work to help those with developmental disabilities. For more information, visit www.johnscreekcivitan.org.
