Bodker to Focus on Civic Center Plans at Mayor's Civic Breakfast

The Johns Creek Civitan Club will hold its second annual Mayor's Civic Breakfast on March 18. It is open to the public.

Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker will talk about ways residents can get behind a city center to help draw younger people and small businesses to the area at the Johns Creek Civitan Club’s second annual Mayor’s Civic Breakfast.

The breakfast, which is open to the public, begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Standard Country Club, 6230 Abbotts Bridge Road in Johns Creek.

Bodker will also share information on the state of the city. As a charter member of the Johns Creek Civitans, Bodker will also highlight ways that fellow members can impact the city through service, especially helping those with special needs.

“The Mayor’s Civic Breakfast is a way for us to bring to forefront the impact our members are having on Johns Creek such as recognizing our Special Needs Teacher of the Year on April 1; the First Responders picnic at Newtown Park for the disabled community on May 10; and volunteering to help run the special needs Bocce Ball program this summer in Johns Creek,” club President Michelle Hanchey said in a news release.

The organization’s first major fundraiser, a tasting of wine and craft beers along with an auction, will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at the Standard Country Club. Proceeds will go to help others in Johns Creek, as well as Civitan International’s groundbreaking work in the area of developmental disabilities education and research.
