Beautiful Pit Bull Needs a Home for Christmas

Witteny is 2 years old and weighs 55 pounds.

Meet Witteny – an American Pit Bull Terrier and a gorgeous girl who is 2 years old and weighs 55 pounds. As you can see from her pictures, this dog is gorgeous and has a personality and demeanor that matches her beautiful looks.

Witteny was pulled from a high-kill Georgia shelter in June 2012. Due to her breed and the stigma surrounding it, she was listed as a "rescue only" dog.  Witteny was slated to be put down at 4 p.m. the day she was saved (at 3:55 p.m.) by an Angels Among Us volunteer named Lynda who agreed to foster her and save her life that fateful day.

When Lynda got this girl home, she was very skinny and had the scars on her of being used as a possible "bait dog." Witteny is NOT a fighter - she is a total love bug who wants only to love and be loved. Her life changed course on that fateful day and now she is looking for that special "forever home."

Witteny loves humans and children and is good with medium to larger, well-behaved dogs. She does get excited around smaller dogs and cats, so she would do better in a home that does not have either cats or small-breed dogs.

Being a terrier, she likes to chase squirrels in the back yard and laughingly jumps around like a deer hopping around when she runs. She doesn't care much for toys but loves to chase the light from a laser pen - which she will do for hours, if you'll play with her.

What she enjoys most is being with her human, cuddling. She waits each night for her foster mom to lift the blanket, then snuggles in and doesn't move a muscle until time to get up the next morning.

She also doesn't mind when "mom" plays with her ears and tail or takes her bone away from her. Her favorite thing in the world is a good, long car ride. This girl would love a "forever" home with a privacy fence, and a family who would take her for a nice jog or run - she is great on a leash.

Witteny would love a home where she can be spoiled, and also taught new tricks, as she is a very smart girl and loves it when she hears "good girl!" from her human.

She is spayed, house- and crate-trained, heartworm negative, up-to-date on all her shots, microchipped and ready for her forever family and home for Christmas.
