5 Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 7

1. State of the City. Mayor Mike Bodker will deliver his annual State of the City Address at the on Friday at 7:30 a.m. The event, hosted by the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce and the Johns Creek Business Association, includes a breakfast buffet, the mayor's address, and a Q&A session. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here or at the door.

2. Healthy Soul Food. The own Chef Lynn Ware begins a new series of cooking demonstrations. On tap this month is healthy soul food cooking, with tonight's class focusing on the history and basics. 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free, but registration recommended.

4. Today's Weather. Today will be rainy with highs reaching 49. Possible wintry mix early this evening should leave little or no accumulation, but motorists should watch out for icy patches.

5. Road Watch. Installation of new traffic signal at State Bridge at Publix/Target could cause lane closures and delays through Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Northbound lane of Johns Creek Parkway south of McGinnis-Ferry will be closed all day through Feb. 11 due to discovery of an unmarked, paved-over manhole. Expect delays.
