Johns Creek Senior Annika Olson Signs With Georgia Tech

In front:  Johns Creek High School senior, Annika Olsen signs her letter of intent as parents Steve and Mary Jo watch.  In back are Area Executive Director for the Northeast Learning Community, Andre’ Wright, Assistant Principals, Volleyball Coach, Beth Stephens, Coach Pete Goggin, brothers Ahnders and Eric, Assistant Principal, Michael Ilnseher, Assistant Volleyball Coach Deb Pia, and Athletic Director, Mike Cloy.

Annika Olsen will be attending Georgia Tech on a volleyball scholarship.  Olsen has played volleyball for seven years, four at Johns Creek High School.  Honors and awards include:  Varsity letter 2011, 2012, 2013.  Recipient of the Team’s Most Outstanding Player Award 2012 and 2013; team co-captain 2013, led JCHS to State Quarter Finals 2011 and State Semi-Finals 2012 and 2013; named to all-state team and first team all-area 2012 and 2012; area player of the year 2013; state senior all-star team; student athlete of the month, greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce; 2011 Scholar Athlete Award; Scholar Athlete 2011, 2012, and 2013.

In 2012 while playing club volleyball, Annika led A5 Volleyball Club to two Open qualifier championships, the Southern Region championship, and a bronze medal at the AAU Open Nationals.  Named to 2-12 AAU All-American team.  In 2013 (age 17 and under), co-captained A5 team to qualify for Junior Nationals and a bronze medal at the AAU Open Nationals.
