Hooch's Nelson to Play Football for Wofford

Chattahoochee High School’s Chase Nelson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football in the fall for Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Wofford is an NCAA Division 1 AA school and a member of the Southern Conference. Additionally, the Wofford Terriers have won or shared the Southern Conference Championship three of the last five years.

Nelson, a four-year varsity letterman, started for Chattahoochee at running back as a freshman on the 2010 State Championship team and amassed a total yardage production of 2,898 yards during his career, which is a school record. Voted co-captain by the 2013 football team, Nelson also received the Varsity Cougar Award, the winner of which is selected by his teammates, who honored Nelson for his dedication, sportsmanship, responsibility, loyalty, commitment, academic achievement and leadership.

Nelson, who plans to study finance at Wofford, is also a three-year letterman on Chattahoochee's track team, where he participates in the 4 x 100 relay, 200- and 100-meter dash.
