Hooch's Hicks to Play Soccer at Georgia Gwinnett College

Courtney Hicks is a four-year varsity letterman and started games as goalkeeper each of her four years at Chattahoochee.

Chattahoochee High School’s Courtney Hicks has signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Georgia Gwinnett College where she plans to major in exercise science. Her long-range plans are to work as a physical therapist’s assistant and possibly coach youth soccer.

Hicks is a four-year varsity letterman and started games as goalkeeper each of her four years at Chattahoochee. She was recently selected team captain her senior year. Highlights of her high school career include starting a second-round state playoff game as a freshman, winning the Region 7 AAAA title and finishing as quarter-finalists in the Georgia High School Association state playoffs as a sophomore, and earning two penalty kick wins as a junior in 2013 versus Alpharetta and Peachtree Ridge.

Hicks plays club soccer for the United Futbol Academy (UFA). Her team, United FA 96 Elite, has played its last three seasons (2011-2013) in the Region III Premier League. In 2013 her club team was runner-up in the premier league and qualified for the 2014 USYS Southern Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, La. She led her team to the 2013 Atlanta Cup title, allowing only one goal in five games, including a semifinal win in a penalty kick shootout.

Hicks’ teams were Atlanta Cup champions in 2011 and 2013 and were finalists in 2010. Other team championships include: 2012 CASL Showcase, 2011 Disney Showcase, 2009 and 2010 Georgia State President’s Cup and the 2010 Region III President’s Cup. In 2010 her club team placed third in the National President’s Cup. Her teams were finalists in the 2011 and 2013 Jefferson Cup Showcase; semifinalists in the 2012 and 2013 Georgia State Cup, and the 2012 Disney Showcase. Hicks participated in the 2012 USYS Southern Regional Championships where she allowed only one goal in three games.
