Goodwill to Host Job Fair Jan. 15

For the second year, Goodwill of North Georgia is giving job seekers across the region the chance to connect with dozens of employers on a single day. Wednesday, January 15, all nine of itscareer centers will host job fairs. Employers will be on-site recruiting workers for professional, warehouse and retail positions. The organization is expecting nearly 80 companies to participate in the one-day event. “Each of our career centers holds regular job fairs, but for New Year. New Job. we’ve combined our efforts to create a single-day impact,” says Elaine Armstrong, director of public relations. Goodwill has career centers in Athens, Atlanta, Decatur, Duluth, Cartersville, Oakwood, Rome Smyrna and Woodstock. Each location will host a job fair from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. The nonprofit, known for its donation centers and stores, uses the money from its donated goods program to fund its career centers and employment services. The facilities have become a resource for more than 40,000 job seekers and thousands of area businesses looking to hire staff. Equipped with computers, résumé-writing tools, local job postings, photocopiers, telephones and other resources, Goodwill career centers are free and open to the public. Goodwill also provides recruitment fair space, interview rooms and other services for local employers. “We know many people start the year looking for new job opportunities. This one-day event will allow us to help them connect with employers, while highlighting the myriad of resources each location offers every day,” Armstrong explains. Job fair attendees should arrive in professional interview attire and bring several copies of their résumés. You can find a list of confirmed employers on Goodwill’s website at goodwillng.org/newjob.
