Former Andrews AFB Commander recalls his experience on 9/11

Community invited to event at Northview High, 6:30 p.m.

Lieutenant General Glenn F. Spears, USAF (retired), who served as the Commander of Andrews Air Force Base on 9/11, speaks about his personal Sept. 11 experience during a 9/11 remembrance event in the Johns Creek’s Northview High School auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Spears, a member of the Rotary Club Johns Creek – North Fulton and Johns Creek Veterans Association, will speak about his role as the operational and installation commander of the 89th Airlift Wing, responsible on Sept. 11, 2001 for the safe airlift of President George W. Bush and other national leaders.

The community is invited to the free event hosted by the Rotary Club of Johns Creek – North Fulton that honors the service and sacrifices of first responders and military personnel.

The remembrance event also features an appearance by the Johns Creek Veterans Association, the Wounded Warrior Foundation, the Johns Creek Fire and Police departments and local elected officials.
