Founders Day Parade Set for Dec. 7

Strike up the bands, Johns Creek's Founders Day Parade is just a month and a half away. The 7th annual parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 7.

This year's parade theme is "Holidays on the Creek," and back again are crowd favorites Medieval Times with their damsels and knights, the Atlanta Braves heavy Hitters with Homer the Brave, the Seed and Feed Abominables (an eclectic and eccentric marching band), and the Atholl Highlanders Pipes and Drums.

Other parade participants include Buddy Beaver of the Army Corps of Engineers, the Monette roadsters, race cars, and the free-wheeling Shriners who join marching bands, scouts and neighborhood floats to parade past nearly 10,000 people along the mile-long route on State Bridge.

If you are interested in joining the fun, you will need to submit an application form to secure your organization's spot in the parade. Take note the deadline for applications is Nov. 12. (Remember when you do your planning that there's only one Santa and he rides in a firetruck at the end.)
