You Are Cordially Invited…

…to attend our third annual Voter Information Night and Candidate Forum in the Johns Creek High School auditorium on Tuesday evening, October 23, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Please join us for a fun and informational evening to:

•   meet candidates for local and state government posts;

•   pick up yard signs and bumper stickers for your favorite Democrat and Republican contenders; and

•   delve into the pros and cons of the charter school issue facing voters this year.

Meet the Candidates

Tom Price, Jeff Kazanow, Akhtar Sadiq, John Albers, Lynne Riley and Mike Dudgeon are just a few of the notables invited to attend and share their views on local and state governance.

Proposed Amendment on Charter Schools

By now, you’ve likely heard at least something about the proposed Georgia Constitutional amendment, HR 1162, and its enabling legislation, HB 797. The proposed amendment would give the Georgia General Assembly the authority to provide by law the establishment of education policies for public schools, and the creation and maintenance of such special schools as vocational schools, schools offering virtual instruction and charter schools.

During our Voter Information Night and Candidate Forum, HR 1162 will be dissected and debated by an esteemed panel of significant stakeholders on both sides of the issue. Hatcher Hurd, Managing Editor of the Johns Creek Herald and Alpharetta/Roswell Revue & News, will serve as our moderator and help keep the tone friendly and cordial (although the potential for some fireworks always exists).

The text for both proposed amendments can be found at www.legis.ga.gov. You may want to read both in advance of this discussion.

No Bias

Please know that the goal of this event is to inform voters fairly; we do not seek to sway you by presenting a biased argument. Once both sides have had an equal opportunity to voice their opinions, you, the voters, can decide who “won” the debate when casting your ballots on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

We hope you can join us for this special event, and urge you to come ready with questions and suggestions for candidates.

Snacks will be served.
