In fairness to this kitty, we gave her the name "Beach Ball" before we put her on "kitty weight watchers." Don't get us wrong...she's still a good sized girl, but not nearly as rotund as before!Beach Ball was headed for a shelter because her owner could no longer keep her when we intervened. She is about 5 years old, and is a truly mellow cat. We have found that she is a little reserved with new people, but once she gets to know her special human, she is very affectionate and very loyal. Her foster mom has found her to be an easy cat to have around. She likes to hang out with you, but is also…
Brantley and Brayden were saved from a shelter along with their two sisters, who have already been adopted. Both of these sweet boys are a little over 6 months old and weigh about 35 pounds. (Their vet thinks they will grow to a nice "medium-sized" weight of 50 pounds.) They are sweet and get along wonderfully with their Angels Among Us Pet Rescue foster’s two children and their own two dogs. They have mastered crate training, and are coming along beautifully with house training. (They are learning to ring a bill to go outside.) They are also doing quite well with leash walking.Brantley is …
Beautiful and personable Cinnamon first came to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue when she was 6 months old after they rescued her from a high-kill animal shelter. She was adopted out to a good home, but is now being returned because her owners have had a change in their personal circumstances. Cinnamon is about 2 years old, is a fairly large cat, and is a strikingly vivid orange color. More than 80 percent of orange cats are male, so she is one of the few females of this beautiful color. This cat is loaded with personality. She seems to have more of a dog personality and will come running to meet …
This wonderful girl is not only named “Mary Grace” she is the picture of love and grace in person. This little girl was at a kill shelter through no fault of her own. While there, the shelter staff fell in love with her because of her wonderful personality and loving ways. You see, although she had her own to care for, she literally took on nursing duties for two different litters of puppies who did not belong to her during her time in this tiny rural shelter. Angels Among Us volunteers do not know where Mary Grace’s babies were at the time she was abandoned, but do know how strong her …
Although we always hesitate to use the word "perfect" to describe one of our pets (just as there aren't any "perfect" people!), we think sweet Alessa, a 7-month-old, 22 pound lab-mix, comes pretty darn close. Like so many other rescued animals, Alessa had a rough time during the first part of her life. She somehow ended up in a shelter, which was very scary to a young pup who was only 4 months old at the time. She was one of the lucky ones: A rescue group saw her picture, fell in love with her, and picked her up just hours before she was scheduled to be euthanized. Unfortunately, she picked …
Rico was abandoned, starving and miserable living on the streets of Puerto Rico when one of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue volunteers came across him. In spite of his poor condition, she could immediately see that this was an exceptionally special little cat. She took him to a local vet, nursed him back to health, and eventually brought him back home with her. Now 8 months old, Rico is a happy, healthy and playful little boy who is looking for a forever home.Rico is a real character and truly entertaining! He loves to play with the numerous toys bought for him by his foster mom, and will play and…
Magenta and her brother, Tumbleweed, were part of a five-puppy litter saved, literally, within an hour of being euthanized at a Georgia shelter. Just when their time was up, a kind lady from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue came along and decided that these puppies had to be saved. All five of them were pulled to safety that day and became known as the “Crayola Pup Gang.” But their remarkable story doesn’t end there. Not long after being rescued, they became ill, as many puppies do, with the dreaded Parvo virus which often occurs in shelter environments. Fortunately, all but one of the original …
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is looking for a wonderful home for two of our beautiful kittens: April and Azalea. And these kittens are just as lovely as their names imply. These kittens are very small, and are between 8 and 9 weeks old. They are very, very bonded and must be adopted together. April and Azalea are incredibly sweet and loving kittens, and absolutely love people. They are very snuggly, and will purr when someone simply looks at them. One of their favorite things is for the two of them to climb onto the nearest lap and snooze away. April has an endearing habit of perching on your …
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is hoping Patch readers will help get the word out about Sally and Felix, two incredibly sweet cats who were adopted by a loving family when they were kittens. Now 4 years old, these children-friendly cats are now in need of another great home because of a severe allergy problem with one of the family’s children. Please note that these cats are up to date on all vet work, and both are good about using the litter box. We would prefer that this brother and sister are kept together, but their current owners will adopt them out separately if that is not possible. They …
Precious Pammie was at a county animal shelter and seemed to know that her time was almost up. She immediately caught the attention of an Angels Among Us volunteer by standing on her hind legs, smiling and wagging her tail for all she was worth. You could almost hear her saying, “Please, someone help me!” The kind volunteer simply couldn’t walk by without stopping, and very shortly afterward Pammie was being whisked out of the shelter…safe at last!...and officially became an “Angels Girl”! Sweet Pammie is a 3-year-old medium-sized Labrador-Dachshund mix with a ton of personality and spunk…
Alfie is a terrific guy, with lots of personality and a huge amount of love to give to his new family. One of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue's volunteers took him in after a neighbor reported that Alfie's owner had moved away and left him behind. The neighbor was not able to keep him herself (allergies), and was desperate to find someone to take him in so that she didn’t have to take him to her county’s animal shelter (where less than 25 percent of cats make it out … and most of those are kittens). So the Angels volunteer agreed to foster him until a “forever home” could be found. (The group has …
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue wants so much to find a loving family for Agatha, a personable 5-year-old Persian mix. You see, this poor girl has lost one home after another, and she so much deserves to find a truly "forever" home. Beautiful Agatha had started off happily enough with a family who adopted her from a shelter, but then their personal circumstances changed and she found herself without a home. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue took her into its adoption program about a year ago. Twice they thought she had been adopted. Everything seemed to be working out great both times, but a health …
Sweet Allie and her son, Sloan, were found living underneath a county road bridge and were wet, cold and shivering. They had been abandoned by their owner, according to the county shelter officials. It was a terrifying experience for these two dogs, but even after being retrieved by animal control, their lives were still at risk. The county animal shelter was, like most such shelters are, too full and this mom and son were facing euthanization. Fortunately, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue heard about their desperate plight and rescued them. They are now safe and in a loving foster home ... but …
"Jimmy Lou" and "Little Girl" were treasured household pets until their elderly owner died, leaving these little 6-year old Chihuahua/Fox Terrier mixes with no one to care for them. For a period of time, they were placed in a small fenced enclosure outside the deceased owner's home, and left there even in the rain and cold weather. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue stepped in and were able to save these sweet little girls, along with their brother (who has since been adopted). Since that time, they have been in a loving foster home while waiting for their forever family. Both dogs weigh about 10 …
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is looking for a new home for Abner, a sweet 10-12-month-old short-haired black kitty. According to Abner's foster mom, this is the most affectionate kitty ever. He was found on a neighbor's back porch on one of the coldest winter nights in December. Although Abner was scared, he ran into her arms as soon as he realized she wanted to help. It was later determined that he was abandoned by his owner who had moved away. Poor Abner was in a half-starvation state and in need of medical care. It took him a while to recover from several months of deprivation, but he is …
Polly is a sweet 5-year-old adult beagle who must have had a very sad life. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue first learned about her when she was in a shelter and was being treated for heartworm disease. Poor Polly acted like she had never had the slightest bit of attention or a kind word. Now she is in a foster home where for the first time in her life she is experiencing love, and she is in seventh heaven. She even has her own toys to play with. Polly has big soft eyes and long floppy ears. Her foster mom says that she has her own vocabulary and can make the most incredible sounds when she is …
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is looking for a home for an extremely personable and sweet guy who was abandoned at an apartment complex last year. Group volunteers knew right away that Frankie had an indominable spirit in surviving for so long even through a horrible winter storm week. Frankie is now about 1 1/2 years old and lives in a foster home along with two other cats (a male and a female). Frankie very much likes attention, and immediately runs up to you when you come into the room. He is playful, but also content just to hang out with you. He initially hated to be picked up, but now is …
Two-year old Nala is a current resident at the Atlanta Humane Society's new Alpharetta facility. She's a staff and volunteer favorite, and is a lovely girl who is thought to be a Rottweiler-Hound mix. At about 50 pounds, she's a great size for a family dog. Most importantly, however, is her very quiet and calm personality. She is very friendly and likes everyone. She does very well on her walks, and just seems to be an all-round great doggie. Nala came to AHS from another shelter, and it's time that she finally finds her forever home. Poor Nala looks up hopefully everytime visitors walk by, …
June Bug is a big, gregarious lady who is hoping that her forever family will come to claim her very soon. This hound mix has never met a person she doesn’t like, and is quite the favorite at the Atlanta Humane Society’s Mansell Campus in Alpharetta. June Bug has a lot of energy, and would benefit from a home with a large back yard and an exercise plan. (She would be a great running or walking buddy.) She seems to like other dogs, and would enjoy having another canine friend to play with. Because she can be rather exuberant, she probably should not go to a home with small children, as she …
Submitted by Angels Among Us Pet Rescue Lovely Bernie and Bernice, who are 9-month-old kitty "teenagers," were abandoned by an owner who apparently no longer wanted to be bothered with caring for them. These super friendly young cats are still young enough to display kitten-like behavior, but old enough to show that they are already great "lap cats." Bernie is a tabby-and-white guy who was friendly with his rescuer from the get-go. A very confident little guy, he instantly made himself at home at his foster house. No hiding under the bed with this guy. He curled up on his foster mom's lap to…
