In most of my posts I write about food, local eateries and my family. This last post for 2012 is all about my daughter Jane and her sustainable life.
I am going to add a link to her blog for everyone to follow. Her lifestyle may not be for everyone, but I am proud of her efforts to create her own carbon footprint in the world. She writes about her food choices, crafty ways to save money and how to be more sustainable.
Not only does Jane give advice about this, she lives it every day. Living on campus at UGA as a Graduate Resident Manager, she maintains almost a completely sustainable existence. Here's what Jane has done to contribute to saving the planet:
Walks everywhere
Changed her eating habits to eat locally grown foods
Gave up her car (yeah, we thought this was going too far, but she manages)
Takes public transportation to save fuel
Rides a bike when necessary to go longer distances
and the list goes on and on.
Her advice has helped me understand how important it is to set goals and achieve them. It takes the youth and brilliance of today's college student to help my generation (and by this I mean all of us who saw the Beatle's live on Ed Sullivan) understand the importance of consistancy, determination and follow-through.
I am so proud of Jane's achievements and mine as well. I have learned a great deal in the past two years and have come to like myslef better as a person, understand others, accept them for who they are (and not fault them for it) and lead a better life.
Patch is a great source of information, local news and friendship for our readers.
So thank you all for reading The Food Snob and listening to me, even when I don't post anything about food.
I wish you all a sustainable New Year, happiness and health.

Allyson,
Ditto for me. The sisters bond is something that cannot be explained and I wish you the same for 2013. Many more celebrations to come with good food, fun, family and friends.
