Woman Arrested for Shoplifting Turkeys
The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.
On Nov. 20 a Johns Creek Police officer was dispatched to Whole Foods on State Bridge Road where store employees had an alleged shoplifter in custody outside the store.
The manager said he and his staff had been watching the woman pushing her cart around in front of the store and looking around. She then went to the cafe area and sat down for a while. The employees suspected she was trying to leave without paying so continued to watch her.
Employees told police that due to an increase in shoplifting, they also had an employee stationed out front. They said the woman attempted to exit and then turned around and came back inside when she saw the employee outside.
When she finally did leave the store, she bypassed all 13 check-out lanes, making no attempt to pay, the employees told police.
The suspect told police that she had a problem with shoplifting and had been arrested in the past.
The manage provided police with a receipt listing all 29 items taken, which included turkeys, keylime pies, spinach artichoke dip, boxes of clementines, items from the olive bar, salads, turkey wraps and assorted cheeses.
Police arrested the woman, a 56-year-old resident of Alpharetta, and charged her with misdemeanor shoplifting.
