Rabbi Ron Herstik, the son of Czechoslovakian Holocaust survivors, recently spoke to fifth-grade students at Wilson Creek Elementary in Johns Creek. His story focused on his mother, Rose, and her experience surviving imprisonment at Auschwitz, a concentration camp during the Holocaust.
The students were fascinated by this firsthand account of the Holocaust, Rose’s bravery and her never-ending faith. As his final message, he urged students to treat all people with respect and kindness. Rabbi Herstik of Congregation Dor Tamid was the highlight of the fifth grade study of World War II.
