The MATHCOUNTS team placed first at the regional competition held at Georgia Tech on Feb. 11. The team will be moving on to the state competition in March. The RTMS mathletes competed against more than 400 students from some 50 schools in the metro-Atlanta area.
The first place team members are Pranay Vemulamada, Michael Zhou, Alice Lin and Joseph Pang. Angie Harris, a math teacher at River Trail, is the team’s coach. In addition to the team of four, there are also five individuals from RTMS who qualified individually and are moving on to the state competition: Leonardo Tang, Kevin Xiang, George Hu, Isabella Cheng and Robert Landlord.
