Price Recommends Washington Reforms

Uncertainty about taxes, health care reform and regulation are keeping businesses from expanding and from hiring new workers, said U.S. Rep. Tom Price, who represents Georgia’s 6th District, which includes Roswell and Alpharetta.
“For so many of you,” said Price. “Washington is obstructing what you are trying to do.”
Price, a Republican, spoke at the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce during its Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast Tuesday morning at the Country Club of Roswell. About 250 people, mainly business people, attended the event.
“If you don’t know, you can’t plan,” he said. “So, you just pull back, you wait.”
Price believes to ease uncertainty and get businesses going, the federal government should do three things. First, he recommended flattening and simplifying tax rates and also minimizing deductions.
“The rate you pay should be the same rate your competitors pay,” he said. “You need to keep more of what you earn.”
Second, “let’s stop the madness in regulations. We should have a moratorium on regulations.”
Third, he said health care should be fixed.
Price, previously an orthopedic surgeon with an office on Hembree Road, was a state senator before being elected to congress in November 2004.
He believes that with lower courts ruling both for and against the health care reform law passed in 2009, that the U.S. Supreme Court will make a decision on its constitutionality in the spring of 2012.
“I believe it is unconstitutional,” he said.
Improving the healthcare system can be done by using tax deductions and refundable credits, by covering pre-existing conditions and by putting Americans into insurance pools with millions of others and thereby spreading risk.
“We should say in law that healthcare decisions are between you, your family and your physician and no one else,” said Price.
Lawsuit abuse also drives up the cost of healthcare, he added.
“For the first time ever I hear the word that I am fearful for my country,” Price said. “That is not where we should be.”
He called the time we are in and the elections set for 2012 “a remarkably challenging and pivotal time in our nation’s history; 2012 is the most important election of our lifetime.”
The rancor in Washington is because the political parties “have diametrically opposed views of what this country should be. When you have diametrically opposed views, it looks pretty ugly.”

I wrote Congressman Price not once but twice by email about Obama's fraudulent long-form Birth Certificate and his fraudulent use of an invalid Social Security Number, but all I got in return were two tear-off postcard form letters that didn't even address anything I had written. It's obvious that Mr. Price is only concerned about attending meetings with businessmen with big pockets instead of hearing from the ordinary people in his district. This isn't REPRESENTATION; it's Prostitution. It's government of, by, and for the corporation by good little whores like Tom Price. What's your "PRICE", Tom???

Tom Price is really worthless as boobs on a bull. He sends out a weekly Why Washington is broken blast and never accomplishes ANYTHING. I do see however that he and his running cronies have been very successful in voting in fantastic retirement and health care plans that only HE can enjoy and voting out the working middle class. This guy is a major reason why Washington is failing miserably!

Tom Price has been a great fellow to have in Washington. his Town Hall calls, where you can speak and interact with him live, is a great thing. I have met him several times and he truly represents a rare thing in Washington - a representative that is conservative and cares about getting big government out of our lives, stopping the wild Democratic (was not) stimulus spending of funds that we do not have, and stopping the Abominations that have been fomented by the disgraceful socialist Obamanator.

Mark is dead wrong. Tom Price has been a disaster for the 6th district, an even bigger joke than his predecessor Newt Gingrich. He doesn't get anything done. Name one major congressional accomplishment of Tom Price. You can't. He is a demagogue who lives to get his mug on TV and his phone call on talk radio shows. This was Newt Gingrich's problem. He talked a blue streak but accomplished nothing while the district lost military contracts and federal appropriations. Tom Price is the next generation of do nothing congressman who gets paid too much by us for nothing but self promotion. But stupid voters produce stupid results.

Personally, I’m in favor of a “do nothing” Congress.
If Congressman Price is accused of inaction, then he has just gained a few points in my household opinion poll. I just wish the stalemate could have started before Bush began the bailouts and Obama broke the bank.

You're right Jake. America should do absolutely nothing. America's best days are behind us. We should not do great things, or do anything for that matter. We should just give up and leave it to other countries to dream great dreams and accomplish great things. America should just sit on its hands and waste away into a third world cesspool.
If only America had inspirational men like you among its founders, we could have given up before we started and remained a remote British colony. Your 'do nothing' attitude could have kept us uneducated, agricultural, and enslaved. How unfortunate it is that evil men of vision and action prevailed against your worldview and built this nation into the most powerful and prosperous nation on earth.

That's so correct. Government isn't the solution to anything. Except law enforcement. And the military. And lawmaking. And public infrastructure. And customs and border protection. And protection from terrorism. And our legal system which protects our constitutional freedoms. And great monuments and magnificent public parks. And trade regulation. And everything else our founding fathers engineered for us.
You may hate this country and its government, but most of us love this great nation and its government which was designed by the founders in their wisdom. Government is not perfect, but it is far more perfect than those who despise and hate the institution our founders created for us but wallow in its protections. I served as part of our government in the Army, and I am saddened that you hate it so much. To see that you hate the millions of people who have served this nation, many of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, is truly disturbing. Perhaps you should move to another country with a different government you like better.
It's people like Jake who hate the government until they need its protections. Thank God our founders knew that such people would be nothing more than footnotes in America's great history.
