Kyle Johnston, Cody Newman and Chad Rush take the Eagle Scout oath.

Three Scouts from Johns Creek Troop 2000 were recognized on Saturday for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.  Cody Newman, Kyle Johnston and Chad Rush were honored at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church.

While there are many prerequisites before someone can earn the rank of Eagle Scout, perhaps the most difficult is the Eagle project itself.  This requires months of planing and development, including written proposals and fundraising. Newman's project was at the Orr Cemetery, where he cleaned the cemetery and the gravestones, rebuilt the retaining wall and painted the fence.

Johnston cleaned the cemetery near the Presbyterian Church, where he built benches, cleaned up the yard and cleaned the gravestones.

Rush chose a different approach for his project. He collected torn and old flags that needed to be properly retired. He then prepared a ceremony and retired approximately 120 flags.  He was also the youngest in the group at 16 .
