Johns Creek Police Select 'Officer of Quarter'

M.D. Meberg creates partnership with community.

The Johns Creek Police "Officer of the Quarter" award has been given to Officer M.D. Meberg for his outstanding contributions to the law enforcement agency during the second quarter of 2011, Police Chief Ed Densmore announced.

A native of West Virginia, Meberg has served in the JCPD’s Community Services Division since joining the department as a member of its inaugural squad in 2008.

“Officer Meberg is a fine example of a law enforcement professional who innately understands the concept of community policing. He is committed to creating a true partnership between the JCPD and the community we serve,” said Densmore.

Beginning his law enforcement career with the Atlanta Police Department in 2004, Meberg worked patrol in downtown Atlanta’s, high-traffic tourist areas for four years.

The JCPD’s neighborhood watch program – PACT (Police & Community Together) – is a key focus for Meberg.  “It really helps our residents become more aware of the services we provide; and vice-a-versa, it helps us get the facts to correct disinformation. It’s all about communication,” he said.

Through his work with Community Services, Meberg is a member of the Bike Patrol, participates in the radKIDS safety program and the Citizens Police Academy, and regularly visits local schools to speak about safety.  He’s also active in the JCPD’s annual fundraising efforts for Special Olympics Georgia.

Meberg served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1996 to 2001 and was promoted to corporal.  He attended West Virginia University and is currently earning his B.S. in accounting.

“I truly believe Johns Creek is an excellent place to live and raise your kids, “Meberg said.  “That’s why I’m a resident myself.  So when I come to work, not only am I helping keep our citizens safe, I’m keeping my own family safe.  That’s how I look at it every day.”
