Car Break-In Leads to Chase, Teens' Arrest
The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.
A 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, both Johns Creek residents, were arrested on Oct. 15 after a woman reported her car was being broken into at Century State Bridge Apartments on Caswyck Trace.
Police arrived on the scene 30 seconds after the call, and observed two males running from the area of the front gate. After a brief foot pursuit, three officers apprehended both of the males.
The victim told police that she had stepped onto her front porch and immediately noticed the two suspects in her vehicle. She said that when the two males heard her walk onto the porch, they attempted to hide behind some parked vehicles. The victim said she ran inside to get her phone and returned to see the suspects fleeing through the parking lot on foot.
She told police that her GPS was missing.
When police questioned one of the suspects, he told police he did open some car doors and take a GPS. He said that he threw the GPS into some nearby shrubs when he noticed that the victim had seen him.
The suspect directed police to where he had thrown the GPS, which was found and appeared to be working. It was returned to the victim.
Bot suspects were arrested and charged with felony entering auto. Their parents were notified, and the suspects were released into their custody.
