Johns Creek Foundation Presents Grant to Nature Center

The Johns Creek Foundation Board of Directors recently presented an $8,025 grant to the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, which plans to use the money to renovate one of its exhibits.

The preserve has maintained for over a decade a collection of live animals that serve as teaching tools. Through its executive director and local craftsmen and carpenters, the preserve has designed a plan to offer the highest quality live animal exhibit in Johns Creek and the north metropolitan area. This grant funding will allow the preserve to renovate the exotic ectotherm exhibit to a high quality, museum-type display. 

Executive Director Ben Team said, “We are incredibly grateful to the Johns Creek Foundation for funding the renovations of our Exotic Ectotherm Exhibit. With community support like this, we are able to fulfill our mission and introduce the citizens of Johns Creek to animals from around the world.” 

“Autrey Mill is honored to accept this generous donation by the Johns Creek Foundation. In this economic climate, it has been difficult to obtain needed funds to improve this popular, unique exhibit,” said Fundraising Chair Karen Daniel. “We were so excited to receive this grant from the Johns Creek Foundation and want to express our sincere gratitude to the members of the Board of the Foundation.” 

The Johns Creek Foundation seeks to promote excellence in the quality of life for the citizens and business of Johns Creek by encouraging and directing financial support to endeavors that enhance recreational and cultural growth, and strengthen unique community identity and spirit. 

By raising funds from individuals and businesses and granting them into the community, the foundation serves as a rallying point for “giving back” in Johns Creek. In its first six years, the foundation has poured some $100,000 into the community through programs as varied as the summer arts camp at Johns Creek Arts Center to the Ceremony of HOPE at the Johns Creek Relay for Life.
