City Council Holds FY2013 Budget Hearing
Proposed $52 million balanced budget includes $45,534,051 in the general fund.
The Johns Creek City Council on Monday took another look at the proposed Fiscal Year 2013 budget and held a public hearing.
The council got its first look at the budget on Monday at its Aug. 20 work session.
The proposed $52 million balanced budget includes $45,534,051 in the general fund.
The budget could be approved after a second public hearing during the council's Sept. 10 meeting, but that approval could be pushed to later in September if necessary. The FY2013 budget starts Oct. 1.
Finance Director Monte Vavra said the budget's goal was to "continue to improve services," "support public safety," and a "commitment to the reserve fund."
During the Aug. 20 work session, City Manager John Kachmar outlined some of the proposed budget's highlights, which includes operation of an arts festival, a volunteer police force, an economic development program, new programming at Shakerag Park and a neighborhood infrastructure program.
The City Council went through the budget during Monday's more recent work session without suggesting specific changes.
During the public hearing, Stephanie Endres was the sole Johns Creek resident to step forward, saying the budget should focus solely on police and fire services and prioritizing road improvements.
