The win lifted the Cougars to 4-1 overall, while the Gladiators fell to 5-1. Both teams have the same records in Region 7-AAAAA play and are now in second place behind Lambert (5-0).
The score was tied 13-13 after regulation. Johns Creek kicked a field goal on its OT possession for a 16-13 lead, and Chattahoochee followed with a game-winning touchdown.
Chattahoochee drew first blood with a field goal at the 8:54 mark of the first quarter. When the Gladiator offense was unable to points on the board, the Cougars maintained their 3-0 lead through the first period.
Chattahoochee added to its lead with another field goal in the second quarter and took a 6-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Gladiator offense came to life in the third quarter, mounting a drive which led to a 35-yard touchdown run by Chase Solomon which put Johns Creek in the lead 7-6.
Neither team was able to mount a scoring drive through the remainder of the third period and well into the fourth.
Finally, with 2:27 left in the game, Johns Creek added a field goal increasing their lead to 10-6.
Twenty-three seconds later, Chattahoochee quarterback Travis Marshall connected with Marcus Sayles for a 61-yard touchdown pass giving the Cougars a 13-10 advantage.
Not to be outdone, the Gladiators took the kickoff, drove down the field, and tied the game at 13-13 and moved it into overtime when Kyle Fowler kicked his second field goal of the game with 8.8 seconds left on the clock.
