You could drive around burning expensive gasoline until a restaurant sign draws you in, but we've got a better idea. Each week, Johns Creek Patch will pick a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:
Bassano's Pizzeria: This new restaurant, located in the former Tasca space next toPampas Steakhouse has the cozy feel of a neighborhood pizza joint – a great addition to the State Bridge/Jones Bridge intersection.
But it's really much more than a pizzeria – the scrumptious Italian dishes are made with fresh veggies and herbs straight from the Atlanta Farmers Market; the sauce is made right in the restaurant's kitchen with tomatoes from Italy; and the menu boasts the dishes are made with the specialty Grande cheese brand.
I've picked up a pizza on my way home and believed it when the menu says the dough is made from scratch every morning. I'm glad to see the restaurant put a big sign on the side of the building so that motorists stuck on eastbound State Bridge during rush hour will notice it's there.
I've also tried the lasagna, which was scrumptious – the sauce was unbelievable – and the portion size was easily enough for two meals. And you must check out the stromboli, which has to be two-feet long!
If you've tried Bassano's, we'd love to hear what you think – tell us in the comments section!
